SPARQL 1.1

Speaker: Andy Seaborne (Senior Data Architect at Epimorphics and representative for the Apache Software Foundation) will provide an overview of SPARQL 1.1.

Slides: SlideShare

"SPARQL 1.1 is an update to the W3C SPARQL standard. It completes the query language, introduces SPARQL Update, and defines SPARQL results in JSON. SPARQL is now ready for applications to publish and manage data using standards."

This talk will introduce the new features in the SPARQL 1.1 suite of specifications, then look how those standards are available open source in Apache Jena.

In our second presentation of the evening, Nature Publishing Group will cover techniques for preparing large RDF datasets for publication with live updates, including RDF extraction and assembly, use of contracts, indexing challenges and data quality, use of different triplestores, SPARQL 1.0 and 1.1. Also covered will be use of their web proxy - Cerberus - which supports SPARQL querying and the Linked Data API as well as implementing a Linked Data browser. Other features of Cerberus include integration with full text search , handling of result formats, streaming/non streaming endpoints, etc.
