The Semantic Web (a.k.a. Web 3.0) is coming ... or, maybe it's already here! CIOs are investing in Semantic Web infrastructure; governments are spending millions on linked open data. So, what is the Semantic Web? How do you get involved? This presentation will answer these questions. This 1-hour presentation will provide an overview of what the Semantic Web is, how it came to be, and how it advances on a multi-decade IT evolution. The presentation will then focus on how to develop applications for the Semantic Web by providing details of the leading Java APIs for Resource Description Framework (RDF), Web Ontology Language (OWL), Rules Interchange Format (RIF) and SPARQL. Attendees will be provided working examples for each API to leverage in building their own applications.
