Geosparql
GeoSparql is a project support be lotico. Initially part of a PhD research development by Marco Neumann with a prototype development in 2002. The first public release of jena spatial in 2005 as open source extension for Jena the popular the Semantic Web framework. Now an Apache Software project. In 2008 the prototype was exposed as a Sparql Endpoint to drive http://www.geosparql.org and http://www.lotico.com
In 2012 the OGC has adopted a OGC GeoSparql standard that independently makes use of the name GeoSparql but is not supported in full by geosparql.org as of 2018.
